Property Rights Reform for China’s SOEs



Tsinghua Center for China in the World Economy will invite Dr. Shahid Yusuf, prominent economist from World Bank to discuss the property rights reform for China’s SOEs.


Dr. Yusuf joint World Bank in 1974 and has assumed responsibilities in different departments. During 1997 to 1998, he was appointed as the Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of World Bank. He was also the chief writer for 1999/2000 World Development Report.


Dr. Yusuf hosted the research program called East AsiaThe Future of Growth, which delivers far-reaching impact on East Asia’s development. The results of the program were published in several books and among them, Under New Ownership: Privatizing China’s Enterprises was issued in Nov. 2005 in Tokyo.


Dr. Yusuf got his Bachelor Degree in Economics in Oxford and his PHD in Harvard.
