Professor Amartya Sen is a Nobel Prize-winning economist and professor at Harvard University. Professor Sen is a leading global expert on a range of economic issues, including welfare economics, social choice theory, economic and social justice, economic theories of famines, and indexes of the measure of well-being of citizens of developing countries.Professor Sen’s academic career has spanned five decades and prior to his current role at Harvard University, he held positions at the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, the University of Delhi and the University of Calcutta.Professor Sen is Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Economic and Human Development at Peking University. Professor Sen received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1998.
 
Professor Sen is married to Professor Emma Rothschild, a member of the Faculty of History at Harvard University.Professor Sen graduated from the University of Cambridge.
